Proven Leadership

Wellesley Natural Resources Commission

Lise was elected to the Wellesley Natural Resources Commission in 2014. She soon became a leader in the 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) Working Group with the Town Sustainable Energy Committee and the Department of Public Works. She went on to lead the successful effort to pass a bylaw at Town Meeting restricting single-use plastic check out bags. She is also leading the NRC's efforts to address gas leaks and is now co-coordinating a regional gas leaks initiative with the Metropolitan Area Planning Council, HEET, Mothers Out Front, and 21 cities and towns, including Boston.

Sustainable Wellesley

Lise has been on the leadership team of non-profit Sustainable Wellesley for eight years. She has led projects, coordinated countless events, and helped grow the organization. She led a volunteer team to tag 200 gas leaks throughout town to raise awareness about this persistent problem and to publicize a public forum on the topic. She is currently leading an effort to increase voter participation among Sustainable Wellesley members.

Leadership on State Issues

Lise co-founded the Mass Interfaith Coalition for Climate Action (MAICCA) to advocate for a clean and just energy future for our state during the 2015-2016 legislative session. MAICCA organized interfaith groups across the state to lobby for specific legislative priorities, organizing workshops on complex energy issues, trainings, and lobby days. Lise has also testified on behalf of the Natural Resources Commission at legislative hearings at the State House on topics including plastic pollution and pesticides.

UU Wellesley Hills

Lise joined the Unitarian Universalist Church of Wellesley Hills in 2011. Four years ago, she was elected to the church governing board and was Chair in 2017-2018. She continues to serve on the board as Past Chair and was recently asked to co-chair the 150th anniversary celebration of the congregation, which will take place in 2020-2021.
